IIST Wins GreenX at IIT BHU (View All News)
'Technex', The Annual Techno-Management festival of IIT (BHU), Varanasi, has given a platform to students of all engineering colleges to showcase their technical and managerial skills and an ability to withstand a fierce examination of their spirits. To inspire the generation next, 'Project Green X' was conceived to give an opportunity to students to clean up the messy environment of the country which otherwise is ranked 3rd most polluted and 7th most environmentally hazardous country. 26 colleges participated in the project and carried out 46 tasks in their campus and neighboring areas throughout the month of Feb 2013. Our team comprising of Shubham Kashiv Civ 4th Year, Shrishti Jain EC 2nd year, Shikha Rajput EC 2nd Year and Akshay Bajpaii Mech 4th Year completed 46 tasks in the given time and topped the list with 2275 points.
On reaching Banaras on 7th March, the team straightaway headed to Vishwanath Temple and paid tribute to the Lord. In the evening, they attended Ganga Arti. Thus duly charged, the team got ready for the final test on 8th March. Top ten teams were given on-the-spot case study on 'Establishment of Power Plant based on Renewable Energy Resources' followed by presentation of their work in front of an august gathering of IIT BHU on 8th March, 2013. Spirited presentation of the team which scored 2583 points was adjudged the best and commended by the eminent judges. On the basis of this grand score, IIST was declared the 'GreenX Champion' and won a cash award of Rs 25,000/-.
