Engineer's Day Celebration at IIST (View All News)
Shail Group of Institutions celebrated Engineer's Day on 15th of September to commemorate the birthday of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. An eminent engineer and statesman, he had made profound contribution in the field of engineering and in turn to the society.
The students and faculties of SGI celebrated the occasion in a solemn ceremony. Dr. M. S. Murthy, Director of School of Engineering and Dr. Shilpa Tripathy, Deputy Director, recounted the achievements of the pioneers in the field of engineering and encouraged the students to emulate the ideals of Sir Visvesvaraya. Prof. V. C. Gupta, the senior most engineers in the campus, solemnized Engineer's Oath to all participants.
The day was dedicated to freshly inducted first year students to inculcate their creative spirit and hone practical skill.
More than 250 students participated in the on-the-spot Model and Logo making competition. 28 working models on principles of thermodynamics, electromagnetism, hydraulics and renewable energy were displayed. The theme of logo making was Reduce-Reuse-Recycle which attracted large participation.
The first prize of model making competition was won by the team comprising of Pratik Agasti and team for their project Hydraulic JCB.
Second and third prize were awarded for making models on Renewable Energy by Lavina Gidwani and JCB Group.
All the three teams were given cash awards for display of originality.
Logo writing competition was won by Siya Sharma, Nidhi Sharma and Aditi Rajput who nicely depicted the concept of Recycle-Reuse- Reduce.
The event was coordinated by Shrishti Jain and Shikha Rajput.
