Inauguration of Inter-School Football & Basketball Tournament at Indore Institute of Science & Technology (View All News)

Holistic development of students owes a great deal to extra-curricular activities including sports which play a vital role along with academics. Shail Group of Institutions (SGI) strongly believes in this tenet and therefore had instituted Shail Trophy, in the year 2012, which encourages school students to actively participate in football and basketball thereby excelling in these games.

The competition evokes huge response as could be gauged by intense competitive spirit displayed by16 boys and 16 girls teams from all over Indore which participated in the event last year.

Continuing with same tradition, SGI is hosting Shail Trophy 2013 which was inaugurated on 21st Oct 2013 at the sprawling campus of SGI. 20 football and 32 basket ball teams which also include 16 girl teams are taking part in the tournament this year.

Prominent schools like NDPS, Gujrati Samaj AMN, Advanced Academy, SICA, RRCAT School, Emerald Heights, St Arnold's, Spring Valley, Choithram North Campus etc. will vie with each other to win the coveted Shail Trophy. The tournament is based on knockout format and is to be held at the sports complex of Indore Institute of Science & Technology (IIST) from 21st to 24th Oct 2013.

The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Kulvindar Singh Gill who represented India in World Basketball Championship at Iran and who is currently the Secretary General of MP Basket Ball Association. He appreciated the spirit of SGI to organize such events and encourage school students to excel in sports. Mr. K S Kapasiya, National Basketball Referee, highlighted the benefits accruing out of such competition and complemented the organizer for organizing Shail Trophy. Dr. Ms. Murthy, Director School of Engineering took the first shot and inaugurated basket to get the tournament going.
